For the fall issue, our fashion editor, Marie Déhé, did a great interview of the danish model Freja Beha for her article on scandinavian fashion. My dear friend Freja sent me the english translation for you to read as there’s some interesting facts there.

What does scandinavian fashion mean for you ? It feels like home.

What is the Scandinavian ‘touch’? Knowing how to dress when it’s cold and still stay stylish

Could you tell me more about Danish fashion and Danish designers. Who is your favourite Danish designer ? Wood-Wood have the most amazing sweaters and hoodies very confortable and soft on the touch. Noir is a bit more luxurious but very streetstyle-like and fierce looking. the lastcollection is incredibly dark and sexy, i love how they are not boring but yet only using black and white.

According to you, who is the future Danish talent in fashion, arts and design?
Jewelry designers from Danemark are not very famous but there are a few worth being known. i love Clevin Jensen, two sisters inspired by pop art and creating unique pieces of jewellery though i’m not sure they are ‘new’ in the business. Other than that I’m afraid i don’t really have time to focus on emerging talents these days.

What is the Danish archetypal style and the typical look/outfit of the Danish girls? danish girls don’t even have to try, they just put on whatever they find and they are stylish, their style is effortless and practical. I’m not saying i’m one of them but when i used to walk down the streets in danemark, i was like ‘oh my god, is she real?’ I think they are some kind of icons because we can’t really find famous high fashion brands back home. How to look fabulous with 100 dkk? It’s amazing how danish and swedish designers/labels are so talented and no one talks about them. I don’t think there is a typical outfit or look but there is that dresscode which is black/grey/blue, the combinaison seems to be effective as I see lots of danish girls follow the trend.

May issue

The shooting took place at Maison Baccarat, a huge diamond museum with two floors and a whole basement just for us and the make-up area because the museum was opened and there were tourist visiting.

Mischa arrived really tired and fell asleep during the whole first make-up session, so we had to wait before doing the interview. But she quicky awoke when it was time for the first style to be shot!

My favourite style, with the Céline skirt and April 77 blouse, was shot in the selling area. People can actually buy everything that is exposed in the museum!

Paule Ka, Michelle Perry, Gaspard Yurkievitch, Giuseppe Zanotti, Dior,.. shoes

Dior princess shoes…

Phillip Lim jacket, Paul & Joe dresses, Miss Sixty pieces, Dior dress, Mulberry bag

Mischa wore a IRO dress with the Dior shoes in the most beautiful room of the museum, as well as the bleu blanc rouge outfit. Even if she was really tired she was really professional and friendly.

Mischa was very pleased with the Miss Sixty looks :

A beautiful image..

June issue

September 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The main theme of the june cover was ‘mythic couples or characters from movies’. We selected Cry Baby, Love Story, Dracula, Trainspotting, Annie Hall, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Pierrot Le Fou. For this shooting, we had 4 great young actors from the, as we called it, ‘vague française’ : Annabelle Hettmann, Melanie Bernier, Aurélien Wiik and Adrien Jolivet.

We shooted the cover at Louise’s flat. FYI, that’s where the Chloé flat ads with Anja where shot! They did the Chloé shooting in the room of Louise’s mom. For our shooting we covered an entire wall with a white sheet. We had to take almost everything off the lounge and put it in the hall (everything except the couch and lightings!!). This is the hall. Louise’s cat likes the heat of the lighting.

Aurélien Wiik is one of the actors of the 2001 movie La Bande du Drugstore with Alice Taglioni, it’s a cult movie here in France.. he’s quite the charming and funny lad. And let me tell you about Annabelle Hettmann – she’s a fabulous young actress, she played one of Louis Garrel’s lover in not one, but two movies and is your typical blonde beauty : sweet and gorgeous. She also played a small part in Sofia Coppola’s Marie-Antoinette. The staff was really great – Ludovic Andral, the photographer, brought his friend Mathieu for the hair and they did a fantastic job.

Garance Doré came to take a few backstage shots but unfortunaly I didn’t take any photos while she was working! But she did published her photos, you can have a look here. Also, came blogger Nardjisse from Mots de Mode who did a great interview of Marie (fashion editor), Karima (my first assistant, aka my Betty Suarez) and myself. It was a bit embarrassing as I don’t feel like what I have to say is interesting, but we had fun and our friend Emmanuelle Tricoire took beautiful black and white photos to illustrate it. Karima looks fabulous with the jacket from the Cry Baby look! As you can see, I never leave my Phillip Lim jacket.

An intense shooting – 10 hours!! Ludovic took a photo of the Dirrty Glam team when we were done… we look like characters from a new tv show… Louise and Karima’ expressions are priceless.
